This One Thing Will Determine If You'll Be Successful or Not

Uncategorized Aug 25, 2019

Are you wondering if you have what it takes to be successful? Wondering if you are cut out to be an entrepreneur or to go to your next level? Are you wondering how some people seem to have an unbelievable amount of success and incredible momentum moving forward, while others fall behind, struggle to get by and sometimes quit altogether?

All external factors aside, if you find yourself asking ‘Am I cut out for this?’ I want you to know that you are not alone. In fact, almost everyone doubt themselves at many points of their career. Successful people doubt themselves too. But doubt does not have to be a bad thing; because doubt gives you a signal that something is not working and that you need to up your game. And that’s an awesome thing,

Because without doubt, you’ll continue doing the same thing over and over again, and you won’t have the drive to grow, try different things and strive to get better.

I’ve personally dealt with doubt a lot in my life and I used to get frustrated with myself every single time I doubted my abilities or myself. I was ashamed because I’m supposed to be the self-growth person, I’m the one who motivates others and inspires them to take courageous action! And when I felt doubt, I felt like a fraud, that I shouldn’t do what I love and serve others until I slay my doubts!

Oh boy, I was wrong! I realized that doubt never stops. SO if you are waiting to stop doubting yourself to take massive action, you might as well give up on your dreams and shove them down the drain because you are going to wait for the rest of your life.

I also realized that doubt is not the enemy! In fact, it’s the one thing that keeps me going forward, seeking answers, immersing myself in self-education, building new skills and striving to get better and better at what I do.

That’s the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people. Unsuccessful people let doubt cripple them. They think that when they doubt themselves that there is something innately wrong with them or in their personality that is almost irreparable, so they tend to hide or cover up their disadvantage, they get stuck, they stop themselves from moving forward or they quit altogether.

Successful people on the other hand experience doubt like everyone else, but they interpret it in a different way. They evaluate the reason for their doubt and they solve it. For example, if they didn’t know how to do build a landing page or publish a book, they would go and find someone who does that and ask for help, or they would get the self-education they need to build that skill.

Once they arm themselves with the capabilities and skills, they take consistent action to build confidence with practice and repetition. Successful people believe in their ability to figure things out along the way. They don’t have more capabilities or resources than others. They don’t even have or pretend to have all the answers. What they have is more resourcefulness. They are willing to make themselves uncomfortable, raise their hand and seek help, show up and take consistent action rather than allow their doubts to get the best out of them.

I personally had tons of doubts when I started my business and I still do. And for a while, I’ve let some of these doubt play in my head like a broken record. I doubted everything from being able to run a business, to effectively sell and market my service, to be able to write and speak in public. Just to name a few.

But then I realized, nobody starts a business knowing every skill and every step along the way! I stopped focusing on what I didn’t have and started seeking help and getting the self-education I needed to build the skills necessary to build my business and make an impact.

And that changed everything for me. It changed from “Am I really cut out for this?” to “What can I do to make it happen?” and that small shift, as subtle and minor as it sounds, is the game-changer. The compound effect of this type of thinking, along with taking imperfect consistent action is what creates long-term sustainable success.

So ask yourself, what 3 to 5 skills or capabilities that you need to master so that you can go to your next level? Where can you get this knowledge or education? Who can help you build these capabilities?

And then your job is to go and make it happen.
